About this tool
Shows your public IP address, with approximate location, ISP, and time zone detected from the IP. Useful for configuring firewalls and access rules, debugging network problems, checking whether a VPN or proxy is active, or simply knowing what IP you're presenting to the internet right now.
How to use
- Load the page and the public IP is detected automatically.
- See the IP address, approximate location, ISP, and time zone.
- Compare with what's expected if you're using VPN or proxy.
Frequently asked questions
- What's the difference between public and private IP?
- The public IP is what the internet sees when your device communicates outward. It's shared by all devices behind the same router. The private IP (192.168.x.x, 10.x.x.x) is what each device has inside the home or work local network. This tool shows the public one, not the private.
- Is the displayed location accurate?
- It's approximate. IP-derived location typically corresponds to the city or region where the ISP's equipment is located, not your exact address. It can be correct at city level or off by tens of kilometers. For precise location you'd need GPS or Wi-Fi positioning, which this tool doesn't use.
- Why does my IP change between visits?
- Many home ISPs assign dynamic IPs, which rotate when the router restarts or periodically. On mobile IPs (4G, 5G), it changes even more frequently. Static IPs (that don't change) are usually paid extra and used by servers or businesses.
