About this tool
Flip a virtual coin and get heads or tails instantly. Useful for deciding between two options fairly, randomising orders, picking between equivalent alternatives when undecided, or simply for a moment of chance. The result is generated randomly, with 50% probability for each side.
How to use
- Click the button to flip the coin.
- See the result: heads or tails.
- Repeat as many times as needed to make multiple decisions.
Frequently asked questions
- Is it really fair, 50/50?
- Yes, based on the browser's random number generator. Each flip is independent of the previous one, with 50% for each side. In real physical coins, there are slight biases due to weight and shape, and the face that was up initially comes up more often. In a virtual coin, that doesn't happen.
- Can the result repeat several times in a row?
- Yes, and it's statistically normal. In 10 flips, runs of 3 or 4 the same are common. That doesn't mean the generator is "rigged" toward one side. Each flip is independent.
- Can I flip multiple coins at once?
- This tool flips one coin per click. For multiple flips, repeat the click. To choose between more than two options, consider the random number generator or random picker from lists.
