About this tool
Creates perfect mazes of any size, with viewable solution and PNG download. A perfect maze has exactly one path between any two points, with no loops or inaccessible areas. Useful for printing mazes for children, creating puzzles for parties or classes, generating maps for games, or simply for fun solving them.
How to use
- Set the maze dimensions (width and height in cells).
- Click the button to generate.
- To print and solve, download as PNG.
- Click show solution to see the exit path.
Frequently asked questions
- What is a perfect maze?
- A maze where exactly one path exists between any two cells, with no loops (no circular shortcuts) and no inaccessible areas (every cell can be reached). Technically, it's a tree in graph theory. These mazes always have a unique solution, making them predictable for puzzles.
- What size should I pick?
- For young children, 10x10 is enough. For a challenging adult puzzle, 30x30 or larger. Above 50x50, mazes become visually dense and take a long time to solve. Consider print size too: large mazes on small sheets become hard to follow.
- Where are the entrance and exit?
- By convention, top-left (entrance) and bottom-right (exit). This convention is arbitrary but is the most common in generated mazes. If you prefer different positions, you can edit the PNG manually, or indicate start and end to whoever will solve.
