About this tool
Calculates the exact age between a birth date and the current date (or a specific date), expressed in years, months, and days. Useful for filling forms that require exact age, calculating elapsed time between events, discovering what day of the week you were born, or counting down to a target date.
How to use
- Enter the birth date in day/month/year format.
- By default the comparison is with today. You can change the target date if you want.
- See the result split into years, months, and days, plus the total in days and hours.
Frequently asked questions
- How are leap years handled?
- Leap years are correctly accounted for. If you were born on 29 February, age is calculated against the real calendar, without losing days. In non-leap years the birthday is conventionally marked on 1 March or 28 February depending on the legal convention of the country.
- Can I calculate age in the past, not just today?
- Yes. Change the target date to any earlier or later day. Useful for knowing how old someone was at a specific event, or planning parties based on future ages.
- Which time zone is used?
- Your device's. Since only dates are involved (no times), the time zone only affects the definition of "today" if you're calculating near midnight. For most cases it doesn't matter.
