About this tool
Converts between dozens of units across several categories: length, weight and mass, volume, area, temperature, time, speed, and energy. Covers metric, imperial, and some niche units. Useful for cooking with foreign recipes, travel, schoolwork, engineering projects, or simply knowing how much a yard is in meters.
How to use
- Pick the unit category (length, weight, volume, etc.).
- Select the source and target units.
- Enter the value to convert. The result appears immediately.
Frequently asked questions
- Which units are supported?
- Length (mm, cm, m, km, inch, foot, yard, mile, nautical mile), weight and mass (mg, g, kg, ton, ounce, pound, stone), volume (ml, l, gallon, cup, tablespoon, cubic inch), temperature (Celsius, Fahrenheit, Kelvin), time, speed, area, and energy.
- Does temperature conversion use a linear formula?
- Yes. Celsius to Fahrenheit: F = C × 9/5 + 32. Celsius to Kelvin: K = C + 273.15. Not a simple ratio like other categories, because temperature scales have different zero points.
- Can I convert between metric and imperial?
- Yes, freely. Metric (kg, cm, liter) and imperial (pound, inch, gallon) coexist in the same category. Note: the US gallon (3.785 L) and the UK imperial gallon (4.546 L) are different, check which one you're using.
