About this tool

Upload an image and automatically extract a color palette with the number of colors you choose. Useful for finding palette inspiration from photos, identifying the chromatic aesthetic of an existing design, creating style guides from reference images, or simply analysing which colors dominate an image visually.

How to use

  1. Upload or drag an image.
  2. Pick how many colors you want in the palette (5 to 10 is the typical range).
  3. See the extracted palette with HEX and RGB codes for each color.
  4. Copy the colors or download the palette.

Frequently asked questions

How are colors chosen?
By statistical analysis of the image's pixels. The algorithm groups similar colors into clusters and returns the representative color of each cluster. The resulting colors are typically the most dominant or the most visually distinct, depending on the implementation.
Can I force a specific color to be in the palette?
Not in this version. The palette is fully automatic. If an important color (for example the color of a specific subject) doesn't appear, you can crop the image to the region with that color and extract from there, or use the color picker to get it manually.
Do palettes work on any image?
They work best on images with varied, well-distributed colors. Very monochromatic images (all blue, all sepia) will produce palettes with very close tones, which is technically correct but not very useful. For rich results, pick images with naturally diverse palettes.
